WISH FROM THE AUXILIARY
Base board installation for several small rooms.  We have the base board…we are just in need of someone who might know how and be willing to install it.
Carpet & installation for the Thrift Store.  The carpet we have must be ten years old and ten years of  wear and tear is very evident.  Sure would be nice to finish off all the updates the Auxiliary was able to do in the thrift store with a grant that was specifically for this purpose…unfortunately, we are out of money for this project.

Silent Auction

The glass case in front of the thrift store now contains items for a weekly silent auction.  You may sign up at the email sale notification list by the cash register or just email me requesting to be added, and I’ll try to get a photo and description of what’s available each week in addition to other thrift store specials.  We’ve had some very interesting items, so check back often!  FosterCareAux@yahoo.com

Click here to look at all the silent auction items.

CRIS Training available at the Foster Care Auxiliary Resource Center.

Call or email FCAOC if you’d like to receive the C.R.I.S.(Caregiver Recording Information System) training and software at our center.  This training is funded through Saddleback College and includes the software program and will help foster parents cut down time spent doing necessary paperwork.  It will also count toward the training hours that foster parents need.  714 778-3383 FosterCareAux@yahoo.com

Your Space
Foster parent, Gina Mitskus is a massage therapist so anyone out there in the foster parent community that needs a great massage for a reasonable price can call Gina. Gina's phone is 714 523 3352 and her rates are $50/hr and $55 for a full 75 minutes.
FYI: Very Important-Please REad!

Hand Sanitizers can be dangerous…even fatal for small children who might lick the pleasant smelling stuff from their hands after well meaning parents think they are helping to prevent illness.

Hand sanitize gels and wipes include a surprising amount of alcohol (e.g., Purell and Germ-X contain 62% Ethyl Alcohol), and a child who swallowed enough of such products could experience intoxication, possibly even alcohol poisoning.

A 2005 study of 292 families by Children’s Hospital Boston (in which one-half of the subjects got hand sanitizers, while the other half received literature advising them to wash their hands frequently) found that those who used hand sanitizer gels experienced a 59% reduction in gastrointestinal illnesses, and that increased use of sanitizers corresponded with a decreased spread of contagions (including those resulting in respiratory illnesses).  So while we are protecting our precious little guys from illness, let’s not forget to put that hand sanitizer out of reach after cleaning up…and don’t let small children use it without supervision.
